The big news this week is that UnitedHealthcare is transitioning away from SilverSneakers benefits for some plans. Here's what to know if clients call.
First up, only some plans in some states will change. The changes affect Medicare Advantage plans in CA, CT, IL, IN, IA, KS, MO, NE, NV, NC and UT and Medicare Supplement plans in AZ, CA, CT, IL, IN, NC, OH, UT and WI.
Second, Medicare Supplement clients in those nine states will get 50 percent off memberships at thousands of gyms across the country, telephone access to wellness coaches and access to various online communities and health-related resources.
Third, Medicare Advantage. UHC is giving seniors more control of their own health both physically and mentally with a new, comprehensive wellness program called Renew Active. Members of Renew Active enjoy a national network of 7,000 fitness centers. Renew Active members are entitled to an evaluation from a personal trainer and have access to BrainHQ, a website that features games, puzzles and exercises designed to help keep your mind active. Renew Active is free.
