Home Care for Seniors
by Karen Mountain
Annually 8,357,100 people receive support from the 5 main long-term care services for senior housing; home health agencies (4,742,500), nursing homes (1,383,700), hospices (1,244,500), residential care communities (713,300) and adult day service centers (273,200).
The goal of any health care option is to treat illnesses and injuries. Examples of home health services include:
- Wound care for pressure sores or a surgical wound
- Patient and caregiver education
- Intravenous or nutrition therapy
- Injections
- Monitoring serious illness and unstable health status
Home Health Care is by far the most desirable option, as it helps seniors maintain their independence while being budget friendly.
