Description & Plan Details: VSP® Individual Vision Plans provides members with comprehensive vision coverage and access to personalized care at low out-of-pocket costs.

  • Exam and glasses or contact lenses in lieu of glasses.
  • Guaranteed acceptance (no age restriction).
  • No waiting period (on active date, access available to full range of vision benefits).
  • Additional discounts (20% savings on additional glasses and sunglasses, including enhancements, from any VSP network doctor within 12 month of your last WellVision Exam and 15% savings on a contact lens exam).

WellVision Exam – participating providers benefits:

  • Covered after $10 exam copay.
  • 15% savings on a contact lens exam.
  • Frequency – every 12 months.

*In Florida and Oregon WellVision exams are covered after $15 Exam Copay.

Prescription Glasses – participating providers benefits (covered after $25 materials copay):

Frames

  • $150 allowance for a wide selection of frames OR $170 allowance on a featured frame brand.
  • 20% savings on the amount over your allowance.
  • Frequency – Every 24 months.

*In Florida and Oregon there is a $120 allowance for frames every 12 months.

 Lenses

  • Single vision, lined bifocal, and lined trifocal lenses.
  • Impact-resistant lenses for dependent children.
  • Frequency – Every 12 months.

Lens Enhancements

Progressive lenses (standard, premium, or custom) • Anti-glare • Light-reactive lenses • Impact-resistant lenses • Scratch-resistant coating • Tinted lenses • UV protection – (copay $16) • Average 20–25% savings on other lens enhancements • Frequency – Every 12 months.

Contacts (instead of glasses) – participating providers benefits:

$150 allowance for contacts and contact lens exam (fitting and evaluation).

Exclusive member extras:

Contact Lens Elective

Allowance includes fitting, exam, and lenses. The cost of the fitting and evaluation is deducted from the cost of the contact lens allowance. Allowance can be applied to disposables. Applies when contacts are chosen in lieu of glasses.

Additional Glasses

20% off the retail price on additional pairs of prescription glasses.

Laser Vision Care

Average 15% off the regular price or 5% off the promotional price; discounts only available from contracted facilities.

SilverScript Producer Certification Requirements for 2023

  • Details refer to certification for SilverScript. AHIP certification must be completed separately.
  • SilverScript certification for 2022 launches on Wednesday, June 29, 2022.
  • New option in 2022: No cost certification for agents who want to sell only Aetna MA/MAPD or SilverScript PDP products, exclusively.
    This new option allows you to bypass the AHIP Medicare training component and complete an alternative Aetna/SilverScript-only training instead, along with several Aetna-specific training courses (available in English and Spanish). 
  • Agents must do 3 things to be ready to sell SilverScript:
    Step #1: Contract with Aetna. This is a requirement to be eligible for commissions on plans with effective dates of 1/1/2023 and later. (Note: If you’re already contracted for Aetna MA/MAPD, you can skip this step, as there’s no additional action you need to take with your contract.)
    Step #2: Complete 2023 certification.
    Step #3: Receive a ready-to-sell notice
  • There are separate certification processes for Aetna MA/MAPD and SilverScript PDP. Completing 2023 Aetna certification does not satisfy the certification requirement for SilverScript.
  • 2023 Certs will NOT cover the remainder of 2022.
  • TAKE AHIP FIRST! If you pass AHIP first you can skip 2 of the 3 SilverScript test modules. 
  • There’s a link on Agent Portal to transmit their AHIP send scores. 
  • In Pinpoint, the direct scores to be sent upon registration for the test, Gorman, agents can use Silver Mail to upload the cert.
  • Passing score is 90%.
  • SilverScript allows 3 attempts.
