Annuities

New Era Group Annuities

GA PA TX

An annuity is a contract in which an insurance company makes a series of income payments at regular intervals in return for a premium or premiums paid. Annuities are most often bought for future retirement income. Only an annuity can pay an income that can be guaranteed to last as long as you live.

An annuity is neither a life insurance nor a health insurance policy. It’s not a saving account or a savings certificate. An annuity shouldn’t be bought to reach short-term financial goals.

Different Kinds of Annuities: Single Premium or Multiple Premiums, Immediate or Deferred, and Fixed or Variable. How Interest Rates are set for Fixed Deferred Annuity: Current Interest, Minimum Guaranteed, and Multiple Interest. Charges that may be subtracted from Fixed Deferred Annuity: Surrender or Withdrawal (some withdrawal can be free), Contract Fee, Transaction Fee, Percentage of Premium Charge, and Premium Tax.

Companies may offer various income payment options: Life Only, Life Annuity with Period Certain, and Joint and Survivor. In some annuity contracts, the company may pay a death benefit to the beneficiary if death occurs before the income payments start. The most common death benefit is the contract value or the premiums paid, whichever is more.

Secure Choice 3 and 5 are Single Premium Deferred Annuities; additional premiums may not be added in the future. The maximum issue age for the Owner and/or Annuitant is Age 100 for the Secure Choice 3; issue age for the Owner and/or Annuitant is Age 90 (some states) and 105 (other states) for the Secure Choice 5. Minimum/Maximum Premiums: $10,000/premiums in excess of $500,000 require prior company approval. Contract may vary by state and by company.
