National Contracting Center (NCC) is a Medicare-focused Field Marketing Organization, or FMO. Founded in 1992, we have helped thousands of independent insurance agents and agencies grow their sales of Medicare and senior health products.
Named after Italy’s Mount Etna, Aetna is one of the nation’s leading diversified health care benefits companies. Their 50,000 employees currently serve an estimated 47.9 million people with a network of 1.2 million providers.
Today the entities that make up Aetna Senior Supplemental Insurance include Aetna Health and Life Insurance Company (AHLIC), Aetna Health Insurance Company (AHIC), Aetna Life Insurance Company (ALIC), American Continental Insurance Company (ACI) and Continental Life Insurance Company of Brentwood, Tennessee (CLI).
CVS Health acquired Aetna in November of 2018. Credentialing, contracting and licensing for agents and providers - as well as Aetna's consumer health insurance offerings - continue to operate under the Aetna name. CVS Health also owns SilverScript. Agents who want to sell SilverScript-branded products need to contract with Aetna and certify with SilverScript.
Aetna is online at Aetna.com and on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube.
Aetna originated in 1819 as a fire insurance company. In 1853 the company’s annuity department detached from the fire insurance arm to form Aetna Life Insurance Company. In 1891 they issued their first accident policy, marking their entrance into the health insurance arena.
Aetna still maintains its headquarters in Hartford, Connecticut, where they offer both group health insurance plans for employers and coverage for individuals and families. Their mission statement, published in 2018, reads:
Aetna’s mission is to build a healthier world—one person, one community at a time. We are a leading diversified health care benefits company, serving an estimated 37.9 million people. We offer industry-leading information, tools, and resources to help people achieve their health ambitions. Our team of nearly 50,000 employees is committed to providing access to affordable, high-quality health care, and making the health care experience simpler and more responsive.

Medicare Advantage Plans are provided by private insurance companies approved by Medicare. These plans are also known as Medicare Part C. Medicare Advantage Plans are built to help individuals age actively. They often include prescription drug coverage and extra benefits. Aetna’s Medicare Advantage Plans cover doctors and hospitalization in one simple plan.
Plans may also include:
While plans vary, some additional benefits of Medicare Advantage Plans include: Dental, vision, and hearing coverage and fitness club memberships.
Aetna currently offers HMO, PPO, HMO plans.
The costs may differ from the costs paid with Original Medicare. Here are some of the main differences.
After choosing a Medicare Advantage Plan, the beneficiary will continue to pay a monthly Part B premium to Medicare and sometimes pay a premium to the company that provides the plan. But there are some Medicare Advantage Plans that don’t charge an additional premium.
While Original Medicare has standard deductibles, they can vary among Medicare Advantage Plans. And some plans don’t require a deductible at all.
Individuals may pay a smaller copayment – a set amount you pay for care – with Medicare Advantage for a doctor visit than they would under Original Medicare.
Aetna Plan offerings and considerations may vary by plan and by geographies. Provider participation varies by state.
Insurance carriers don’t offer Medicare Advantage Plans in all states or all counties in a state.
