Humana AHIP Certification 2021 Explained

Before you can sell Humana’s Medicare Advantage and PDP plans, you need to pass AHIP and two training courses: one focused on the basics of Medicare, and the other focused on Humana’s products.

  • This year Humana has raised the number of attempts allowed. Agents now have 6 attempts to pass AHIP.
  • If re-certification is failed or misses the deadline there are serious consequences! See below.
  • The Humana portion of recertification will not have a test this year. Each agent will sign an attestation upon completion of the content stating
    that they will abide by the guidance given.
  • AHIP is required for both certification and recertification.
  • 2021 Certs will cover the remainder of 2020.
  • At the conclusion of Certification & Recertification this year, all agents will be certified to sell all Humana products!

Deadlines for AHIP Certification and Recertification

  • Certification and re-certification courses will launch at noon EST on June 30, 2020.
  • Plan year 2020 certification closes at midnight EST on June 19, 2020.
  • Technically, there’s no deadline for your initial certification. However, you can’t sell Humana’s Medicare Advantage or PDP products until you finish certification.

What's New for AHIP 2021?

  • AHIP testing. Agents will have 6 attempts to successfully pass testing for AHIP.
  • Humana testing. The Humana portion of recertification will not have a test this year. Each agent will sign an attestation upon completion of the content stating that they will abide by the guidance given.
  • All Products. At the conclusion of Certification & Recertification this year, all agents will be certified to sell all Humana products!
  • Humana MarketPoint University. HMU is upgraded! Starting June 30th, HMU will be easier to use and see. The website will also be mobile & tablet friendly.

What happens if I fail my re-certification?

If you fail re-certification (from Humana):

  • You will have to sit out the selling season for the upcoming plan year and complete the entire INITIAL certification process the next plan year if you choose to sell again.
  • You will lose any previously written MA(PD) business and forfeit MA(PD) renewal commissions.
  • You will no longer be able to access the FastApp and MAPA applications.
  • Agents may also be subject to Section A Violation investigations if they write Medicare Advantage business while NOT certified.

What happens if I fail to re-certify prior to the expiration date?

If you do not complete re-certification prior to the expiration date (from Humana):

  • You will lose any previously written MA(PD) business and forfeit MA(PD) renewal commissions.
  • You will no longer have access to the FastApp and MAPA applications.
  • You will have to complete the entire INITIAL certification process in order to sell for the new plan year.
  • Agents may also be subject to Section A Violation investigations if they write Medicare Advantage business while not certified.

AHIP Certification 2021 - Humana Cost & Discount Information

  • AHIP cost is $175. Use this link to receive a $50 discount.

Before you can sell Humana’s Medicare Advantage and PDP plans, you need to pass AHIP and two training courses: one focused on the basics of Medicare, and the other focused on Humana’s products.

  • Passing score for Humana’s certs is 85%. Passing score for AHIP is 90%.
  • If AHIP is failed in 3 attempts, Humana can’t be offered and no renewals for the next plan year!
  • If re-certification is failed or misses the deadline there are serious consequences! See below.
  • AHIP is required for both certification and recertification.
  • AHIP cost is $175, or $125 if using the link from Humana’s agent portal.
  • You have 45 minutes to complete the Humana test. That’s up from 35 minutes last year.
  • 2020 Certs will cover the remainder of 2019.
  • Certification and re-certification courses are available now.
  • Internal agents will have until 5:00 PM Eastern time on September 30, 2019 to complete Recertification.
  • External agents will have until 5:00 PM Eastern time on November 30, 2019 to complete Recertification.
  • Technically, there’s no deadline for your initial certification. However, you can’t sell Humana’s Medicare Advantage or PDP products until you finish certification.
  • This was the earliest cert and recert launch date in Humana MarketPoint history!
  • Certification Course outlines will be reduced by almost half while maintaining training quality and making it more efficient for you to complete your certification.
  • Both the certification and recertification final exams are open book, and for PY20 Aetna is making it easier than ever to find the information you need to pass the test.
  • The time to complete the final exam (both cert and recert) was extended from 35 minutes to 45 minutes.
