7 Topic Ideas for Your Next Medicare Seminar

If you talk to some of the most successful Medicare agents, you’ll find that most if not all of them host regular educational seminars. That’s why we originally created our Medicare Seminar Guide, which we’ve recently updated. This guide is full of valuable information on how to excel as a Medicare agent!

In the guide we will touch on things like:

  • What you should and should NOT do at an educational event
  • Food & Giveaway guidelines
  • Remote Seminars
  • Topics
  • and so much more!

When creating the guide, we heard from agents that developing seminar topics is one of the most intimidating details, so we compiled an extensive list of suggestions. You’ll have to download the guide to get the full list, but here are 7 of the top options to get you started.

1. Medicare 101

It’s always good to start with the basics. A Medicare 101 seminar lets you speak to a wide audience of potential clients in need of your services. This is a great opportunity for targeting seniors turning 65! This is step one in branding yourself as an educator in your community, by doing this you are inviting seniors to remember you as their go-to for Medicare questions.

2. How to Sign up for Medicare

Take attendees through the nuts and bolts of signing up for Medicare and you’ll earn their appreciation – and potentially their business. Reminding them that you understand Medicare can be a confusing topic and you’re there to help answer questions and walk them through the process.

3. VA Benefits

Look for local veterans’ organizations and set up a seminar with a built-in audience.  The fact that you’re serving veterans in your community makes this topic even more worthwhile. This can be an untapped market in some areas, and referrals will flow in!

4. Retire in Style

Share your financial knowledge about retirement, healthcare costs, and more to help beneficiaries plan their futures. Team up with local experts on the presentation. This can quickly turn into a networking opportunity to swap referrals!

5. How to Help Your grandkids with college funds and FAFSA

College FAFSA forms are notoriously complex. Help potential clients navigate the paperwork and give them tips on other ways to help out their grandchildren.

6. Women and Social Security

The current population of seniors in the US includes quite a few women who either never worked outside the home or did very little. These women may not be aware that if they were married, they may be entitled to benefits from their husband’s work contributions. Help them understand this and other aspects of social security.

7. Medicare FAQs

Compile the most frequently asked questions you receive from clients and answer them for your seminar audience. This is great for seniors of all ages and also allows a great opportunity for an open forum where seniors can also bring their own questions in a safe space.

Want more topics? You’ll find that and much more in our guide.
